What It’s Used For:

Naturalis Herbal 150-Year-Old Dehydrated Sourdough Starter is designed to:

✔ Connect You to Tradition – Experience the flavors and textures of centuries-old sourdough with a culture that has been lovingly maintained for over 150 years.

✔ Create Delicious, Tangy Bread – This starter gives you a complex, tangy flavor and chewy texture that only a long-established sourdough starter can provide.

✔ Cultivate at Your Own Pace – Once rehydrated, you can feed the starter regularly and bake fresh sourdough bread whenever you like.

✔ A Piece of History – Enjoy the satisfaction of using a starter passed down for generations, with each loaf carrying a piece of baking history.

How to Use It:

1. Rehydrate the Starter: Combine the dehydrated starter with 2oz of filtered water in a clean jar. Stir well, cover loosely, and let it sit at room temperature for 24 hours.

2. Feed the Starter: After 24 hours, add 1/4 cup of flour (starter flour or additional flour) and 1/4 cup of filtered water to the jar. Stir and cover loosely again.

3. Continue Feeding: Repeat the feeding process every 12-24 hours, discarding half of the starter before each feeding. After 3-5 days, your starter will be bubbly, active, and ready to bake.

4. Bake or Store: Once fully activated, use it for your favorite sourdough recipes or store it in the fridge for future use. Feed it weekly if kept in the fridge.

Important Precautions:

• Store in a cool, dry place until you’re ready to rehydrate and use.

• Do not use chlorinated water to rehydrate the starter, as chlorine can harm the natural yeast and bacteria.

• Ensure your jar has a loose-fitting lid to allow gases to escape as the starter ferments and rises.

• Discard part of the starter before each feeding to maintain the right balance of yeast and bacteria.
